WebApp Idea

So the idea I've come up with is a sort of nature helper that will encourage you to go outside. It'll track what wildlife you see and tell you where to see wildlife you haven't seen. It'll tell you of bush walks and tracks and nature related stuff that is in your area and tell you how to get to them. It could probably have some sort of facebook like social aspect. Possibly, because it's mobile it could use AR to show you how to find specific wildlife too.

Here are some brief notes I made when I was brainstorming:

- it knows where you are
- augments reality with the camera - maybe showing you information or building plans?
- snap a QR code for quick information
- microphone search

nature app
- recognises birdsong
- recognises insect sounds
- gps creatures in that area

So some notes to give an idea on what I'm aiming for:
-The audience would be nature enthusiasts or outdoorsy people.
-The app would use the microphone to analyse sounds and tell you what the animal or critter you were hearing outdoors was.
-It would use GPS and tell you what the known wildlife in vicinity are.
-Would tie in to an account which you could share photos with others who have the app, or with your linked friends (maybe facebook or have a separate friend system).
-Could possibly use the camera to show you what a certain animal would look like in place and to scale to help you find it in the wild (this would be like AR).

Notes from Connecting video

I only took a few notes but I thought I would post them here anyway.
"something that can do its own thing in the background is great"

"...whats not wonderful, is fake analogue"

the internet of things is the where there near future lies - connecting and connected things

present data in a subtle way

Week 3 - Jquery

This week we learnt about jquery. Then we tested some and tried to get it working in our template sites.

So here I'm adding a jquery styled button.

I managed to get the calender working without having my site hosted on a server!

See! This be a screenshot from the browser.

After this I went for a jquery styled dropdown list thingamy.

These things are on separate internal jquery pages.

And here is the result for the dropdown list shown working on the internal page 2 printscreened from in the browser.

Week 2 - More refreshers

This week I continued working on my template.

Adding styling for the links.

As you can see here.

Before the hover...

And after the hover.

Practicing with some javascripting.

And here is the result of the javascript code working in the browser console.

The blue box is a styled animation of colour changing. I am also editing more javascript code...

as you can see here.

And the code works. I have 36 eggs!

Week 1 - Getting back into it

So, I started out creating a site template which served to refresh what I learnt from last year.
Setting it up with headers and an image.

Resizing the image to fit.

Adding a paragraph to the page in the form of a wee story of of complete nonsense.

Adding a CSS ctylesheet.

Turning on some mobile viewing settings and enabling javascript.
